WWE Royal Rumble 2014: Daniel Bryan vs Bray Wyatt Match Is Off?

By Grahame Herbert /

Daniel Bryan is still out of action following his severe concussion on Raw last Monday. The latest news from F4WOnline.com is that Bryan's condition remains serious. As a result, Bryan was kept off house shows this weekend, resting it out at home in Phoenix, Arizona. Judging from that news, things look very bleak for Bryan making the Royal Rumble on Sunday and some backstage believe his PPV match against Bray Wyatt could be off. As it is in competitive sports, a concussion is one the most dangerous afflictions an athlete can suffer. WWE and Bryan have little choice but to sit it out until a physician gives the head injury the all clear. This can often take weeks. It comes as a huge blow to everyone. Bryan was so over last week with the Raw crowd that it was reminiscent of the birth of the Steve Austin era in '98. The backstage reports state that the whole locker room was in awe. Vince McMahon was said to be the most impressed - and is reportedly a huge mark for Bryan right now. There is a very good chance that if Bryan was fit for Sunday he could have been booked as the Rumble winner. He was also set to face Bray Wyatt at the pay per view, in a one on one match that has now probably been scrapped. Bryan reportedly remembers nothing of last Monday. When he was atop the cage doing his chant at the end of Raw, a stage hand was at the apron giving him instructions on what to do. The news that Bryan would not be appearing at the house shows over the weekend went down very badly. Such was the reaction that WWE actually announced refunds for those fans disappointed by Bryan not being in attendance. That says a lot about how the WWE perceive Bryan as a draw right now - they are acknowledging that people are coming to WWE events to see Daniel Bryan.
