The former WWE Champion's WrestleMania spot is a bit up in the air at the moment, and so he wouldn't be helped if current titleholder Daniel Bryan tapped him out or pinned him cleanly at the Rumble. AJ is too valuable for that, and he shouldn't suffer the indignity of having zero momentum heading into the spring.
Besides, winning clean does nothing for Bryan's self-righteousness. As a sanctimonious eco-warrior who lambasts fans, peers and management alike for their wasteful ways while he sports a blinged-up championship belt, Daniel is f*cking fantastic. He's in his element right now, and he's a heel who should be cheating.
Watching Bryan lie through his teeth about being the champion this planet needs as WWE approach WrestleMania sounds like fun too. It's amazing to think how much he's changed since that emotional return one year ago. Long may it continue.
