Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that Carlito will be returning to WWE at tonight's Royal Rumble pay-per-view. This will mark the Puerto Rican's first in-ring WWE appearance in over a decade.

According to the report, there are also rumours circulating backstage that the former United States Champion will be backstage for tomorrow's edition of Raw to begin a tryout as a producer. Carlito wouldn't be out of place in a producing gig, seeing as Jamie Noble, Shane Helms, and Finlay, all from the same time period as Carlito, share the same role.

As you may recall, Carlito's return to WWE was announced for the start of 2021 as part of the Legends Night episode of Raw. Instead, he was a no-show, as he never actually reached an agreement with the company to return. His absence was noticeable, indicating that the WWE fanbase misses his talent.

Carlito's sole appearance since departing Stamford in 2010 came as part of the 2014 Hall of Fame induction ceremony, where he inducted Carlos Colon. Predominantly wrestling for his home promotion World Wrestling Council since then, the WWC video library has since been bought by WWE for their own usage, further teasing a return to the big leagues for Carlito.

Finally, that return is going down.
