The Wrestling Observer newsletter are reporting that WWE's plans for the 2021 Royal Rumble are currently still up in the air.

According to Dave Meltzer, Vince McMahon isn't 100% sold on anything for the 31 January pay-per-view quite yet. Early speculation predicted that Daniel Bryan would challenge Roman Reigns for the Universal Title and Riddle would face Bobby Lashley for the United States belt on the undercard, but neither of those matches have been confirmed.

It's worth noting that Bryan announced he would enter the men's Rumble match itself on Friday night's Christmas-themed episode of SmackDown. That pretty much rules him out of the running for a crack at Roman's strap, at least on the Rumble show.

The Observer did also say that WWE's plans have been changing a lot recently. It's not out of the question to suggest that things will change daily over the next few weeks until McMahon nails down a concrete plan for the Rumble.

The 2021 Rumble will take place at the ThunderDome in Tropicana Field. It'll be the first Rumble supershow ever to take place without a live, in-person audience.
