WWE Signs Former NFL Star Brennan Williams
Offensive tackle has begun training at Orlando's WWE Performance Center.
WWE.com has announced the signing of Brennan Williams, a former offensive tackle for the Houston Texans. The company's press release states that Williams reported to the WWE Performance Center on Monday.
The 25-year-old Williams was a high school football star at West Roxbury, Massachusetts's Catholic Memorial School. He received an athletic scholarship from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a standout player for the school's team.
After graduating, Williams was drafted by the Houston Texans, taken in the 89th overall slot in the 2013 NFL draft, though a knee injury forced him to miss his rookie year. He would go on to rack up short tenures with the Jacksonville Jaguars and the New England Patriots.
After leaving the Patriots, Williams - a life-long wrestling fan who was inspired by Eddie Guerrero - traveled back to Houston to train for a career in the ring under Booker T. He debuted for Booker's Reality of Wrestling promotion in early 2016 under the name Marcellus Black, then soon participated in a tryout camp with WWE.
Williams is also an accomplished martial artist, holding a black belt in taekwondo.
