WWE SmackDown: 10 Things You Might Have Missed (Dec 27)

2. Baron Corbin Missed A Near Fall

For much of the headline Triple Threat clash for the WWE Title, AJ Styles and Dolph Ziggler were forced to join together against Baron Corbin. This enhanced the big man's reputation, as it took two top SmackDown stars to keep him quiet.

This was reflected in the fact that Dolph and AJ jumped from the security barricade simultaneously, both landing on Corbin and crashing him through one of the announce desks. After that big bump, Baron was out of the match for a while and the action reverted to the one-on-one scenario previously advertised weeks ago between Styles and Ziggler.

Catching AJ with a sweet Superkick, Ziggler made the pin. At that point, it's clear that Corbin was supposed to break things up. The camera changed to a wide shot, one which would have shown Baron crashing the scene nicely.

Late to the party, Corbin couldn't quite make it on time. AJ was forced to kick out, showing he was on his toes. In fairness to everyone involved, the spot actually looked dramatic, almost like it was meant to happen.
