WWE Smackdown Spoilers 25/10/2011 - CM Punk vs. Christian
Spoilers for Friday night's show from Houston, Texas.
Friday's show taped from Houston Texas. Smackdown General Manager Teddy Long opened the show revealing that the future of the World Title would be decided tonight. Which is nice to know but surely a no-contest between Mark Henry and The Big Show just means re-match at the Survivor Series? This apparently wasn't mentioned. Christian came out and said despite losing more matches than Brooklyn Brawler (well he didn't say that but it was implied) that he was a worthy champion and he should be awarded the belt. CM Punk came out and Long mentioned it was a Raw/Smackdown supershow and seen as though Punk it might as well be Punk vs. Christian in tonight's main event. We are getting reports that this segment was solid. 1) The Miz & R-Truth defeated Kofi Kingston & Evan Bourne in a non-title match. Miz & Truth used the Skull crushing finale/downward spiral combo for the win. Now logic would suggest because Miz & R-Truth won a non-title match, they should get a tag title shot somewhere down the road. Which presumably they would then win and defend against The Rock & Cena at Survivor Series... Miz & R-Truth did a promo on their Survivor Series main event post-match. Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels DVD Promo airs. Straight after Daniel Bryan and unofficial Hart family member Tyson Kidd had an argument over which performer was better, Hart or Michaels. Santino Marella was easedropping and said they should settle it in the ring. 2) Wade Barret defeated Trent Barreta Despite being a SuperShow, there's always room for a squash match. 3) Randy Orton defeated Dolph Ziggler in a non-title match. Orton won clear with the RKO. Again I know I'm particularly old school but Orton beating Rhodes and Ziggler, the IC and U.S. Champions in the same week, which isn't building to a title shot against either man does nothing for the title, nothing for the champions, and little for Orton other than to show us he is so much better than the midcard and they aren't quite sure what to do with him when he's not champion or not chasing the big one. Post-match stare down between Orton and Rhodes, so another match between those are coming. Again I know I'm old school but I would much prefer to see them have a Survivor Series team behind them (i.e. Rhodes could have Ziggler, Swagger and Barrett and Orton can have Morrison, Ryder and Mason Ryan) at the next PPV rather than seeing them have another singles match. Sin Cara Negro is interviewed without the mask! Finally this feud is going somewhere. Reports say he was dressed like Anarquia from TNA. As I don't watch TNA... here's a visual reference;
