As WhatCulture previously reported, Tyson Kidd was scheduled to undergo neck surgery on Wednesday morning. We can now confirm that the surgery took place, and it was reportedly a success. Kidd was injured back on June 1 in a dark match with Samoa Joe. The match took place before a live broadcast of WWE Monday Night RAW. Kidd was reportedly injured when taking Joe's finisher, the Muscle Buster. Though most in WWE have chalked the injury up to bad luck, Kidd's uncle, Bret Hart, was critical of the safety of Joe's maneuver. Kidd underwent neck fusion surgery, a procedure similar to what Steve Austin, Chris Benoit, and Edge all had in the past. Kidd's wife, Natalya, is currently off the road to be by her husband's side. She might return to do some occasional shows, but according to Dave Meltzer this week in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Natalya wants to stay home until Kidd is well enough to take care of himself. Also, according to a Tweet posted by Kidd following his surgery, it appears his tag team partner came in to give moral support. https://twitter.com/KiddWWE/status/613887494753525760 The official timetable for recovery when it comes to this type of surgery is 14 months, meaning Kidd will be out for more than a year.
