6. Crowd Response To Rusev/Lana/Ziggler/Summer Rae Story
Browse any number of forums related to pro wrestling, and it's likely there will be some criticism regarding the whole on-screen romance between Lana and Dolph Ziggler. Similarly, Rusev's fledgling relationship with Summer Rae has felt somewhat disjointed. It was therefore a pleasant surprise when the crowd at SummerSlam got heated for the rivalry. Ziggler vs. Rusev finished in a double count out, which certainly paves the way for more matches to come. That wasn't necessarily the big story at SummerSlam though. Whenever Lana became physically involved in the action, the capacity crowd went bananas. That's encouraging for WWE, because the storyline had previously felt lukewarm at best. Wrestling crowds often come in for their own criticisms nowadays. It's difficult to find an audience who seem full of energy and willing to react to everything presented to them. The Brooklyn, New York faithful could accurately be described as having a lot of passion, and that made the post-match stand off during this segment much better.
