WWE SummerSlam 2014: 8 Matches That Must Take Place

By John Canton /

A major storyline took place on Monday's Raw as Seth Rollins turned on his Shield buddies Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose. He used a steel chair to destroy them. He aligned himself with Triple H and Randy Orton in what looks like a new Evolution trio. It was a much needed turn because the WWE product had become stale. They needed to do something. Now that Rollins is in the heel role and Batista has "quit" the company at least for a couple of months while he goes to promote his movie, it's time to look ahead to SummerSlam. Before we get there it's important to remember that Money in the Bank and Battleground are PPVs that will happen before that, but we all know SummerSlam is a big deal. That's the event that is one of WWE's big three shows every year and this year is no different. I've put together a listing of eight matches that WWE should do at SummerSlam based on some of the current storylines in place. There's nothing drastic in here like writing CM Punk back in storylines or setting up crazy heel or face turns. It's a series of realistic scenarios. In my card, Triple H isn't listed in a match. My feeling is that he's going to cut back on the matches going forward and go back to his role as the suit wearing guy. Maybe he will wrestle at SummerSlam although if he's smart he'll stay on the sidelines to let the younger guys have the spotlight. There are also new people like Bo Dallas and Adam Rose that aren't included even though they might be a part of it. It's hard to fit everybody in. Anything more than eight matches seems unrealistic, so that's why I decided to go with eight. A total of 24 people would be a part of this card. Who are they? Read on to find out the eight matches that WWE should do at SummerSlam this year.
