WWE SummerSlam 2019: 10 Matches That Must Happen
Biggest party of the summer, and the biggest threat to 'KofiMania' yet...
Screw internal claims from WWE that Super ShowDown was "as big as WrestleMania". It wasn't, and no amount of snappy voiceovers from silken-throated devils can convince us otherwise. As far as we're concerned, the real 'Mania botherer on the horizon is SummerSlam on 11 August.
Call us old-fashioned, but tradition means something, and SummerSlam 2019 will hopefully stem the flow of throwaway pay-per-views after Stomping Grounds and Extreme Rules. It has to, because we all need some hope in this era of disorganised, haphazard and sketchy booking. Surely the 'Slam will be a banker?
Over the past three years, WWE's dedication to cramming as much on shows as they can has seen 12, 13 and 13 (again) match cards at SummerSlam. 2019 shouldn't follow that trend; ideally, this'll be a tight, focused show that showcases wrestling and drama across 10 matches, rather than stuffing in some unnecessary extras to give the illusion of value.
Everyone will have their own, but here are our early picks for some grappling delights WWE could put on in Toronto this August. Brace yourselves for a whopping eight championship matches and a few grudges that'd go down a treat...
