SummerSlam is going ahead folks, and what's more, it's actually happening in summer!

Yes, Vince McMahon's mooted plans to delay the sizzling spectacular to the chilly climes of winter, just so it could accept fans made of blood and bone rather than blurry pixels, hasn't come to pass, and instead, SummerSlam is taking place from the slightly dystopian vestiges of the THUNDERDOME!

The new setting is said to have totally re-energised staff, and the company are hoping to capitalise on the feel-good, fresh start factor with a noteworthy show. That means major happenings are set to go down - particularly with Payback just a bank holiday-ruining week hence - and there's talk of at least one or two major comebacks.

Major comebacks which, if they are as major as gossip suggests, will dictate the outcome of a main event that was simply never on the cards for 2020 until the coronavirus came and ripped them all up like a last-minute McMahon re-write.

Elsewhere, reality has intervened to rob us of one of the show's more intriguing stipulations, but in the grand scheme of things, that hardly matters. Two titles are up for grabs by one person, and a bitter son aims to prove that eye-of-dad soup is, in fact, a dish best served cold.

8. Sayonara, Sonya

A foregone conclusion, owing to the unfortunate intervention of reality.

Until Friday, this grudge match had been billed as a Hair vs. Hair contest. That stipulation was 'upgraded' - in reality, shelved - to a Loser Leaves WWE contest, allowing one of the two parties to take some time off following the show.

Unless there's something we don't know, all signs point to that being Sonya Deville. The Florida native has suffered a torrid time in her personal life this past week, following a kidnap attempt by a stalker who broke into her home. Legal proceedings have now began against the perpetrator, and it's eminently understandable that WWE have granted her compassionate leave.

That, it should be noted, is not confirmed, but joining the dots draws this logical conclusion. That means she's losing - and 'leaving' - this weekend, hair intact.

Prediction: Nothing more than a bit of business so Deville can attend more important matters.
