WWE SummerSlam 2020 To Be Held At Performance Center
Weekend programme of events in Boston cancelled.
Though we're waiting for WWE to complete the formality, PW Insider have reported that SummerSlam 2020 - as could reasonably be expected - will not be taking place from Boston, MA's TDGarden Arena, and will instead emanate behind closed doors from the Performance Centre.
Word had filtered down from the company that Vince McMahon had ambitious plans to welcome fans back into arenas this August, with sights set on the Biggest Party of the Summer. Though escalating circumstances made such a claim increasingly unrealistic, a recent edict from Boston Mayor Marty Walsh prohibiting large gatherings in the city throughout summer has all but ended any faint hopes.
Naturally, the weekend's entire programme of scheduled events, comprising SmackDown, NXT TakeOver: Boston and Monday Night Raw, will all be relocated to Full Sail.
SummerSlam 2020, which is set for 23 August, will be the fifth WWE pay-per-view to take place in front of empty stands since the global health crisis effectively shut down live entertainment back in late March. There is currently no word on whether the show will be recorded in advance, or air live.
