WWE and Brooklyn's Barclays Center have announced a multi-year deal to bring back the three night SummerSlam weekend in 2016 and 2017. This is following on from the big success with hosting NXT, SummerSlam and Raw in the building this year. All three nights sold out, and also delivered in terms of excitement. The key dates for 2016 are: Saturday, August 20 NXT Sunday, August 21 SummerSlam Monday August 22 Monday Night Raw The key dates for 2017 are: Saturday, August 19 NXT Sunday, August 20 SummerSlam Monday August 21 Monday Night Raw Making this announcement so soon after this year's event, it shows how keen both WWE and Barclays Center are to capitalise on SummerSlam 2015's success. The three night sell-out has changed WWE's way of doing business, giving the company a new business model for maximising success over event weekends. It is now less about one special event, and more about one special weekend. It now really is like "WrestleMania in summer", which is a quote WWE financial officer George Barrios used in an investor conference call earlier this year. What will be interesting for the next two years, is to see how NXT holds up as a brand. The key draws for NXT right now, all of them will surely be over on Raw by 2017. A challenge for WWE will be to ensure that this year's NXT Takeover success isn't a one off, and they'll have to find a way to support NXT, as it inevitably loses its top talent to the main shows.
