WWE Talent Allowed Back On Twitch, New Deal Reached
WWE's long-running Twitch ban is over, per a new report.
WWE stars are no longer banned from streaming on Twitch, reports Fightful Select, with the market-leading wrestling promotion reaching an agreement to allow its talent to return to the platform.
Fightful note that per WWE and Twitch's new deal, wrestlers will be allowed to stream "with almost no restrictions." One thing that will not be allowed, however, is streaming with other promotions' personnel without it being cleared.
A three-way revenue split has been agreed between Twitch, WWE, and the wrestlers, with Twitch and the wrestlers taking "the vast majority" of money made. Talent, in general, are very happy with the situation.
WWE moved to ban its talent from making money on third-party platforms in late 2020, causing discontent amongst its roster, with the likes of Paige and Zelina Vega, both of whom commanded large followings on the platform, expressing their public concerns. At the time, many WWE talents cited the edict as contributing towards a desire to head elsewhere.
April 2022 saw WWE hold a backstage talent meeting informing wrestlers they'd soon be able to generate revenue on third-party platforms once more, though it took until now to reach a deal with Twitch specifically.
