WWE Teasing Naomi Vs. Melina At Evolution
Could the Battle of the Splits be on?
The hype-train for WWE's upcoming all-female pay-per-view Evolution had a huge load of coal dumped into the furnace last week thanks to Trish Stratus' appearance on Raw, and it's looking like full-steam ahead until the event takes place in October.
Company mouthpiece Cathy Kelly was on the red carpet at last night's Teen Choice Awards, canvassing a host of nominees and WWE superstars for their sanitised takes on the upcoming show. When questioned who she'd most like to face off against in Uniondale, SmackDown's Naomi was very prompt with an answer: Melina.
After being interrupted by husband Jimmy, who chimed in noting the two time Divas and three time Women's champ has a better split than his wife, Naomi crooned over Melina's athleticism and uniqueness. "She's awesome," concluded the former Funkadactyl.
Melina left WWE in 2011 at the end of a glittering seven year spell with the group. She hasn't made an appearance for the promotion since, making Naomi's namedrop particularly intriguing. The Californian has been largely inactive over the past two years, and recently told Wrestling Inc. that her in-ring tenure was over - but we reckon she could be tempted to don the tights one last time for a career-ending Battle of the Splits.
