WWE have announced that long-time employee Sue Aitchison will become the fifth recipient of their annual Warrior Award.

The award, presented at the yearly Hall of Fame ceremony, was created to commemorate the passing of The Ultimate Warrior in 2014. During his own induction speech, Warrior called for the creation of a special accolade designed for those behind the scenes within the company whose tireless, unseen work makes superstars of WWE's roster.

The promotion's version of the award mutated slightly from that original premise. Each year, it is given to "an individual who has exhibited unwavering strength and perseverance and who lives life with the courage and compassion that embodies the indomitable spirit of The Ultimate Warrior."

Aitchison fulfills both the original and current remits of The Warrior Award, having worked with the company for over thirty years as Director of Community Relations, notably spearheading the promotion's partnership with the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

A host of WWE's top stars have lauded praise on the company's hard-working ambassador since the announcement of her Hall of Fame induction. Triple H described her as an "unsung hero", whilst John Cena vouched that "few have touched so many lives like Sue."

Speaking about her recognition, Sue told The Stamford Advocate:

“I’m so humbled -- just thinking about this honor is emotional. Giving back is part of WWE’s philosophy. This is something we do and always want to do well.”
