WWE To Split Up The League Of Nations
Heel stable's days are numbered.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that "people who need to know" in WWE have been told that The League of Nations is broken up.
While Wade Barrett's removal from the group on the post-WrestleMania Raw looked to be a way to take the departing star off WWE TV, it was actually the beginning of the end for the group.
The stable formed last November in the wake of Sheamus's surprising WWE World Heavyweight Championship victory over Roman Reigns at Survivor Series. The two were scheduled to clash in a title rematch at the TLC Pay-Per-View, but Reigns goaded Sheamus into defending the championship against him on Raw. The match ended in a disqualification when Barrett, Alberto Del Rio, and Rusev attacked Reigns, and Sheamus then announced that the four men had come together as The League of Nations.
The League's fortunes didn't last long; Sheamus soon lost the WWE World Heavyweight Championship back to Reigns, while Kalisto defeated Alberto Del Rio for the United States Championship. Since January, the stable has been floundering, as its members have repeatedly failed to capture the WWE Tag Team Titles from The New Day.
