WWE: Top 5 World Heavyweight Championship Reigns

By Jamie Callaghan /

5. Chris Jericho €“ Unforgiven €™08 to Cyber Sunday €˜08

Despite this reign not being among the longest Y2J has always had a reputation for making the best of what he is given. For two months Jericho held the title as if it was the most important possession in the world. Punk had been the champion but at Unforgiven he was kayfabe injured by Legacy and in quite a disappointing moment he wasn€™t allowed to defend the belt. A Championship Scramble took place and Jericho managed to leave with the belt around his waist. Jericho was in the midst of an intense rivalry with Shawn Michaels, one which won the feud of the year from the Wrestling Observer. Jericho€™s only successful defence of the World Heavyweight title was at No Mercy, when he defeated Michaels in an excellent ladder match. The bout was awarded the match of the year award. Jericho eventually dropped the belt to Batista at Cyber Sunday in a great match. Overall, Jericho had arguably his best run as champion, an award winning match and continued a feud which earned also earned huge recognition.
