WWE Tried To Poach THIS Wrestler From AEW
Nice potential signing you've got there, shame is somebody poached him...
AEW's Eddie Kingston has revealed that WWE made a serious play for him shortly after challenging TNT Champion Cody in his Dynamite debut on 22 July.
Speaking on Talk is Jericho, Kingston said "the competition" made contact when he impressed against 'The American Nightmare,' though AEW had already offered him a second booking (via Christopher Daniels). When Eddie let Daniels know that WWE had been in touch (without begging for a job, he stressed), AEW turned their second booking into a full-time contract offer - and Kingston was signed.
WWE had targeted Eddie in the past, albeit for a coaching role. Kingston turned them down every time, knowing he'd feel "bitter and angry about coaching, not getting a shot [in the ring]", though the world's biggest promotion offered him more than a trainer's position this time. Said "bitterness" would have prevented him from doing a good job as a Performance Center coach, he admitted.
Kingston came within a hair of winning All Out 2020's Casino Battle Royale this past weekend. He was ultimately defeated by Lance Archer when Jake 'The Snake' Roberts got involved, though he has aligned himself with the Lucha Brothers and The Butcher and The Blade.
