WWE Trying To Get THIS Wrestler Over As "Big Star"
Pushing this wrestler looks to be a big priority for Triple H and WWE.
Fresh off her and Aliyah's victory over IYO SKY and Dakota Kai to become Women's Tag Team Champions on last night's Raw, it has been reported that WWE plans on making Raquel Rodriguez's push a priority.
Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE is trying to get Rodriguez, specifically, over as a "big star."
This might explain her and Aliyah's surprising victory over SKY and Kai, who were tipped to become WWE Women's Tag Team Champions as soon as the tournament was announced a few weeks ago. Aliyah scored the pinfall on Kai, giving the belts their first owners since May, when they were vacated as former champions Sasha Banks and Naomi were handed indefinite suspensions for walking out during an episode of Raw.
That Aliyah's fall was on Kai, who wasn't the legal woman, will likely be turned into a storyline. It'd be easier for WWE to engineer a rematch from those circumstances.
Nonetheless, this is the latest in a string of successful championship victories for Raquel, who has become a serial gold-holder in WWE. A two-time NXT Women's Tag Team Champion and former NXT Women's Champion, she now has a main roster title on her resume.
