WWE TV Tapings Suspended After Positive COVID-19 Test
WWE has postponed today's tapings to allow for further testing.
WWE has postponed today's television tapings at the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida after an unnamed developmental talent tested positive for COVID-19.
The promotion issued the following statement on Monday:-
"A developmental talent, who was last on site at WWE’s training facility on Tuesday, June 9, has tested positive for COVID-19. Since that time, no other individuals that attended the facility have reported symptoms. However, out of an abundance of caution and to ensure the health and safety of the company's performers and staff, all talent, production crew and employees on site at the training and production facilities will be tested for COVID-19 immediately. Following the test results, WWE plans to proceed with its normal television production schedule."
Despite that last sentence, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer/Figure Four Online and POST Wrestling's John Pollock have both confirmed that today's tapings have been cancelled. WWE will resume on Wednesday, when they'll capture footage for next week's Raw, SmackDown, and NXT, having filmed this week's shows yesterday.
Developmental wrestlers were recently brought to WWE's tapings to add background noise to proceedings, with whoever tested positive the second company employee to do so since the global health crisis kicked in. Here's hoping other attendees avoided infection through mingling with this unnamed talent.
