At a press conference today (15th December) from the 02 Arena in London, Triple H and Michael Cole announced a WWE Network exclusive 16-competitor tournament to crown the first ever United Kingdom Champion.

After the recent debut of 205 Live (on the back of the CWC tournament earlier this year) many were expecting the next chapter of WWE programming to focus on female talent from around the globe. But the decision has been made to reward the UK for its history, fan-base and expansive talent pool. No word on if the return of World of Sport (with Jim Ross on commentary) had anything to do with the decision making process.

The full competitor line up has been revealed and includes some of the best talent the UK has to offer:

The last time the UK was represented by a non-main event title in WWE was the European Championship, which was retired in 2002.
