For many years before WrestleMania I, Johnny Valiant was one of the most well-known names in tag team wrestling. He and his brother, Handsome Jimmy Valiant, served as the template for tag teams for decades to come, and enjoyed one of the longest reigns as WWE Tag Team Champions. By the time WrestleMania I came about, Johnny Valiants in-ring career was over, and he had transitioned into a managerial role, and his charge in this case was Brutus Beefcake. He was an obvious heel manager, and he soon interfered in his charges match, causing it to end in a double disqualification. Since retiring from wrestling, Valiant has primarily dabbled in acting and comedy. He has appeared on multiple episodes for both The Sopranos and Law & Order, and has also played minor roles in a few feature films. His stand-up comedy career has done well, receiving praise in local media in New York City.
