WWE WrestleMania: Every Women's Championship Match Ranked From Worst To Best
23. Melina (c) Vs. Ashley - WWE Women's Championship (WrestleMania 23)
No disrespect intended to the late Ashley Massaro here, but her only singles match at WrestleMania was f*cking abysmal. She challenged Melina for the Women's Championship at 'Mania 23 in a Lumberill Match, with the entire build of the match surrounding the defending champion being jealous of Ashley landing the cover of Playboy.
That'll put butts in seats!
Look, it was exactly what you'd expect of WWE's women at the time. They were never allowed to do anything major, and were always deemed the p*ss break portion of a show by those live in attendance.
It didn't help that Ashley was nowhere near ready enough for a singles match on the biggest wrestling show of the year, whereas Melina, while one of WWE's all-time most underrated females, wasn't at the level she needed to be at in order to carry a match. They were given a measly three minutes to work with - meaning the entrances combined were longer than the match itself - but they did their best.
Only, their best wasn't nearly good enough to be put on WrestleMania. It merely acted as a bridge between the Battle of the Billionaires attraction and the John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels main event.
