WWE's AJ Styles Set For SHOCK TNA Return (TNA News)
TNA Slammiversary could well be a "phenomenal" night...
With an already stacked line-up for TNA Slammiversary this weekend, could that PPV also feature the long-awaited TNA return of WWE's AJ Styles? Possibly...
Of course, a TNA return for the Phenomenal One is something many fans have been hoping for since the announcement of the formal working relationship between the Anthem promotion and WWE. And now, Anthem President Carlos Silva has certainly stoked those P1 fires.
Firstly, Silva took to X to promote Slammiversary, emphasising that the event would be "PHENOMENAL" (in all caps).
We’re moving the stage back to accommodate more fans. This event will be TNA’s greatest achievement and trust me it’s going to be PHENOMENAL. #Slammiversary #TNA @ThisIsTNA pic.twitter.com/9BUxjiIQjj— Carlos Silva (@carlossilva) July 15, 2025
When Carlos Silva was interviewed by Fightful Select's Sean Ross Sapp - an interview due to go live later today - Silva's response to the question of a potential AJ Styles appearance was to again say Slammiversary would be a "phenomenal" night, and that he likes the word "phenomenal".
From sources that Fightful reached out to about Styles' status for Slammiversary, they were unable to get a definitive answer. However, one source did note how they believed AJ would be making an appearance, otherwise these teases would be a "gross misstep".
As a side note, we grabbed some time with TNA World Champion Trick Williams earlier this week, with Trick Willy outright naming AJ Styles as somebody he wants to face. After all, Williams calls himself the greatest ever TNA World Champion, whilst many fans for so long viewed AJ as being Mr. TNA.
For Styles, he's a TNA Original - well, an NWA-TNA Original, even - dating back to the company's 2002 start-up when they were running the weekly Asylum PPVs. Becoming a bona fide pillar of the promotion, AJ would remain with TNA through until 2014, becoming a five-time World Champion, a six-time X Division Champion, a six-time Tag Team Champion, and a two-time Legends Champion.
On paper, something between Trick Williams and AJ Styles would make all the sense in the world, whether that's Styles returning to TNA as the heroic veteran defending the brand against Trick, or even something as simple as AJ lending a helping hand in getting the TNA World Title back around the waist of a TNA-contracted talent, in turn offering up an immediate programme for Williams against Styles as and when Trick heads to the WWE main roster.
As for TNA Slammiversary, that takes place from New York's UBS Arena this Sunday, where the main event will see Trick Williams defend the TNA World Championship in a triple-threat match against Mike Santana and Joe Hendry. Elsewhere, the stacked card features a further five titles on the line, including the winner-takes-all battle between TNA Knockouts Champion Masha Slamovich and TNA Women's Champion Jacy Jayne, and the Nemeths defending the TNA Tag Team Titles in a four-team ladder match.
