Cody Rhodes has undergone "successful surgery" on his injured pectoral muscle according to an update from wife Brandi.

Tweeting out the eagerly awaited news, she said;

"The doctor just repaired Cody's pectoral tendon which was torn completely off the bone. Successful surgery. He is on the road to recovery now."

This will delight fans of Rhodes and presumably those within WWE that will be hoping for a speedy return. 'The American Nightmare's main event encounter with Seth Rollins before this break strongly suggested he'd be a top line fixture in the short and longterm future, with the injury representing an unexpected and unhelpful setback. The injury was worked into the match and a follow-up write-out on Monday Night Raw the next night.

The tear was very literally laid bare in dramatic fashion at Sunday's Hell In A Cell premium live event. Rhodes revealed shortly before the show that he'd suffered the blow, adding enormous suspense to the moment he removed his jacket and revealed the full extent of the damage.

Though no timeline has been revealed for his return, the "road to recovery" will hopefully be expedited by surgery going well. More on this as and when it develops.
