WWE's Matt Riddle Still Wants Brock Lesnar Match
Bro will keep pushing for bout with The Beast.
Though the target himself has made it clear he has absolutely no interest in it ever happening, Matt Riddle has still not given up hope on a possible match between himself and Brock Lesnar somewhere down the line.
'The Bro' and 'The Beast' apparently got into a backstage row at this year's Royal Rumble, after which Lesnar vowed he'd never work with the NXT man. Nevertheless, Riddle has continued to push for a meeting of the two ex-MMA supremos, promising to "retire" Brock some days later, and just recently, telling Ariel Helwani that he plans to change the naysayer's mind.
"[He] basically said, 'We are never going to work', so I shouldn't be putting his name out there, talk about him or call him out on social media," Riddle explained to Helwani. "What am I going to do? He's Brock Lesnar. I get it. You don't want to work with me and I offended you. All I can do is change your mind. That's it."
Riddle said that although he's now going to stop pestering Brock for the bout, his own mind has not changed, concluding, "I still want to work with him."
So is their spat genuine, or are they playing the long game? Triple H, speaking on a recent conference call, didn't rule it out. "Who knows?" he mused. "We'll see where it goes."
Riddle made his SmackDown debut this past Friday. Meanwhile, Lesnar has not appeared for WWE since losing the company's top title at WrestleMania 35.
