WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne should be on a high at the moment, having just competed at PROGRESS Wrestling's landmark Wembley Arena event and passed the 500-day mark with his belt, but 'The Bruiserweight' could now be set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Canada's Destiny Wrestling broke the news via their Facebook page last night, announcing that he'd been pulled from their shows this weekend. Dunne, who holds the promotion's top belt, was originally booked to face Canadian indie stalwart Josh Alexander, and has now been replaced with ex-WWE/TNA star Low Ki.

Destiny added that WWE will confirm the news within the next few days. They offered no specific details on the injury's nature or how long Dunne will be out for, though their use of "severe" as a descriptor is worrying.

2018 has seen Pete become a semi-regular fixture on NXT television, mostly through his and Moustache Mountain's feud with The Undisputed Era. He recently starred in an acclaimed singles bout with Ricochet, and will face the North American Champion and Adam Cole in a pre-taped bout next week, but now looks set for a long period of inactivity.
