Roman Reigns looks set for a short spell on the WWE sidelines after suffering a ruptured eardrum at Survivor Series 2022.

Dave Meltzer reports in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Reigns, like Drew McIntyre (who is currently shelved with an identical ailment), should be back before long. The situation has been described as a "short-term thing", though it may explain why Roman hasn't been with the rest of The Bloodline in their post-Survivor Series television appearances.

McIntyre had been working through his own ruptured eardrum until a 4 December house show, after which he had his ear examined, finding out the problem was worse than first thought. He was medically disqualified from competing the next day.

There is currently no word on when, exactly, Reigns and McIntyre will be back in action.

Both men competed in the Survivor Series main event, with Reigns and The Bloodline defeating McIntyre, The Brawling Brutes, and Kevin Owens. An unplanned spot that saw KO slap Reigns led to a fleeting moment of backstage heat between the two. It was reported at the time that Roman had suspected he'd suffered a ruptured eardrum as a consequence of the stiff shot, though it is believed the duo don't have any lingering issues.
