WWE's Shinsuke Nakamura sparked speculation with a teasing tweet on Tuesday night.

The reigning Intercontinental Champion hit the post button on "See you, my Friends..." before hastily deleting it. Reddit user u/Hvitrulfr captured a screenshot before the tweet vanished into the abyss.

Nakamura hasn't tweeted anything since, so there has been no clarification on what, exactly, he was referring to here. It's possible that he was talking about Kyle O'Reilly and Johnny Gargano, however, as both participated in what may end up being their last ever WWE NXT show last night. Each man is currently working under a contract that expires later this month - and there's no word on either of them renewing as of yet.

Shinsuke has been Intercontinental Champion since 13 August, when he defeated Apollo Crews on that night's episode of SmackDown. He has mounted only one successful defence since then, however, going over Crews on 24 September.

Despite this, Nakamura has kept a regular wrestling schedule over the past couple of months, competing primarily in non-title bouts and tags alongside Rick Boogs. His most recent bout was a Survivor Series 2021 Kickoff Show clash with United States Champion Damian Priest.
