WWE's WrestleMania 39 To Be Celebrity Heavy?
Triple H might reach out to non-wrestling stars in a bid to bolster WrestleMania 39.
The Wrestling Observer is reporting that WWE plans to go heavy on outside celebrities for next year's WrestleMania 39 weekender in early-April.
According to Dave Meltzer, both Triple H and Stephanie McMahon are keenly aware that they should capitalise on the fact 'Mania is taking place in Hollywood. The Inglewood, California setting provides easier access to some A-listers and general celebs who could help create mainstream buzz.
Nick Khan, who previously worked as an agent in Hollywood, is also trying to use his connections in the film biz to drum up interest. It'll be interesting to see who WWE can get their hands on, or who they can coax to ringside for a quick wave for the cameras.
This is nothing new for the promotion, but it does seem like 'Mania 39 will be one of the most celeb-influenced supershows in the pay-per-view's long history. Previously, Vince McMahon leaned hard on outside help for shows like WrestleMania XI; NFL star Lawrence Taylor worked the main event vs. Bam Bam Bigelow, and others like Nicholas Turturro and Jonathan Taylor Thomas got involved in other matches too.
Could fans see a repeat of that style in 2023?
