10 Brilliant Marvel Event Comics Fans Should Read
3. Age Of Apocalypse
Was Age of Apocalypse really better than House of M? Well, as an overall story maybe not. But as an event? Yes. Just about.
When Legion came back from the future with plans to kill Magneto for his crimes against the world, he would instead kill his father Charles Xavier and, in doing so, bring about a timeline that nobody wanted.
With Professor X dead, Apocalypse invaded ten years earlier than he would've done if old Chuck was still alive and kicking. This led to En Sabah Nur taking complete control of the world. Which really sucks the proverbial balls if you're a mutant, or a human for that matter.
The dystopian future that the Age of Apocalypse gave the comic reading public was a very harsh glimpse into what would happen if the super-villain had actually won one once in a while. It also proved, once and for all, that Apocalypse's mantra of survival of the fittest would've, under no circumstances, been fun for anybody other than those who packed enough super-power to help keep themselves ahead of the curve.
