10. Jean Grey

Jean Grey is without a doubt one of the most recognizable members of the infamous mutant crew. Over time there have been several iterations of the famous character in both print and on screen, showcasing how she is one of the most powerful entities in not just the X-Men franchise, but arguably all of Marvel comics.

Being born an Omega-level mutant - the most powerful bracket of these enhanced beings - with telepathic and telekinetic powers is one thing, but add being the physical manifestation of the cosmic Phoenix Force, and well it is safe to say not everyone could handle that amount of power.

Despite all this, Jean continues to defy the odds as she manages to balance all this with a marriage and kids from different timelines and dimensions. Given Grey's history, it is hard to argue that she isn't a force to be reckoned with, or that she's at her best when she is outright defiant against anyone that has ever tried to restrict her.

Jean has had some truly iconic moments throughout her illustrious tenure with the X-Men and her uncanny ability to overcome these obstacles, whether friend or foe, is a true testament to how important this character truly is.
