The immensely disturbing €œWolverine: Old Man Logan€ storyline by Mark Millar and Steve McNiven is filled with nightmarish imagery and stomach-churning deaths. The story takes place in a dystopian future where supervillains have conquered and divided the United States into individual fiefdoms.

An older Wolverine lives in a territory controlled by the Hulk and appears reluctant to use his claws. Via flashback, the reader learns that Wolverine inadvertently hacked up all of his teammates when he believes a group of enemies has invaded the X-Mansion. As Wolverine kills the last invader, it is revealed to be an illusion manufactured by Mysterio and Logan'€™s fallen teammates are there instead.

In the storyline€™'s final chapter, Logan confronts the Hulk, who easily dispatches of Wolverine and eats him. Logan'€™s healing factor kicks in while he'€™s being digested and he claws his way out of the Hulk€™s stomach killing him in the process. The image of Wolverine bursting out of the Hulk€™s stomach, with green blood and guts spraying in all directions is arguably the most gruesome sight in this very violent story.
