10 Rare Comic Con Collectibles You Wish You Owned

10. Mazinger Z Figurine

Mazinger Z was a super robot hero from Japan, made from the hilariously named Japanium in the translation (the original name is somewhat more creative) and Super Alloy Z. It had a short but moderately successful run of manga comics in the 1970s, spawning TV which ran for two years, also in the 1970s.

Right now, it doesn’t sound like all that much to get excited about. The figurine looks okay, but if you’d never heard of the character, there’s pretty much no chance you’ll wish you owned this one... right?

Well, regardless of whether you’ve heard of it or not, you’ll definitely wish you owed this. Rare even by convention standards, the Mazinger Z figurine only saw 20 ever produced; each selling at $20,000 dollars.

That was a decade ago too, and while with such a limited run none are currently available online to buy, if you were selling one of these you could pretty much name your price now.

It’s not made of Japanium or Super Alloy Z (obviously) but instead a high quality mix of titanium and carbon fibre, standing two feet tall. Is it worth $20,000? Well, people paid it, so there’s your answer.
