10 Reasons To Celebrate The Superior Spider-Man

9. Anna Maria Marconi

While the Superior Spider-Man has struggled with its female supporting cast a bit €“ Mary Jane and Carlie Cooper specifically have suffered from being inconsistently characterized by writer Dan Slott €“ the series did introduce the fantastic Anna Maria Marconi to the mix. Anna Maria€™s most defining physical characteristic has been her height. As a bonafide €œlittle person,€ Slott has had to tread carefully in an effort to not make light of her disability. Fortunately, outside of some occasional references (mostly by villains, and curiously enough, one from Aunt May), Anna Maria€™s diminutive stature has rarely entered into the storyline. Instead, readers were treated to a smart, funny and likeable character in a book that desperately needed a strong female presence.
