Death Of Wolverine: 10 Ways To Make It Not Suck

There's plenty that could wrong here, although we really, really hope it doesn't...

While longtime fans have seen Wolverine die time and time again (clones, alien imposers, alternate timelines, all that fun) Marvel has announced what looks to be the Canadian hero's final end. Penned by Charles Soule and drawn by Steve McNiven, the Death of Wolverine is expected to hit shelves in September and is being promoted as the Wolverine story to end all Wolverine stories. No pun intended. Interviews have mentioned Soule wants this to stand up against Chris Claremont's works and Mark Millar's Enemy of the State among many fan favourite stories, and will give some true closure to the character. At the same time, while it will reflect upon Logan's long life, it won't be a simple homage of his greatest hits. Each issue is set to examine a different aspect of his personality from the Clint Eastwood-style lone warrior to the mentor figure, yet for all this good news a few worrying concerns hang over the story. From unfortunate industry trends to X-Men specific issues, there are no shortage of ways in which the Death of Wolverine could go wrong. The story faces a veritable minefield of narrative snares and writer problems which have plagued Marvel, many of which have destroyed or held back sagas which could have otherwise been great. This is a list of just a few of the bigger examples, any one of which could turn a fond farewell to Logan into a spiralling disaster.
