Starting out a fairly insecure teen unsure of how viable their powers are, and then becoming a badass pirate captain who doesn't take sh*t from anybody is a pretty huge change - but one anyone who knows Kitty Pryde would know she'd always been capable of.

While Kitty famously proclaimed "Professor X is a jerk!", there's not the bad blood that might have quite suggested. She'll always be the beloved younger sibling to most of the X-Men - well, except Colossus, but that's a very different scenario.
