10 Actors Who Said They'd Never Go Back (But Did It Anyway)

3. Natalie Portman - Thor

It would be fair to say that Natalie Portman has had a mixed experience in the world of the MCU to date. Portman was the big name actor for the first Thor film, starring as scientist Jane Foster to Aussie Chris Hemsworth's lead man, who was not yet the big name attraction he is today. The first outing focussing on the god of thunder was well received and a moderate box office success by MCU standards.

Portman agreed to return for the sequel, The Dark World, due to the involvement of Paddy Jenkins as Director. However the actor was left fuming when Jenkins was sacked as Director, with Portman no longer interested in being involved in the project, but still made to fulfil her contract.

There was no sign of Jane Foster in Thor: Ragnarok with a 'break up' being explained as the character's non appearance, with the actor declaring she would not be returning to the franchise. Portman's anger towards the MCU had clearly subsided by the time of Avengers: Endgame, with the actor allowing previously unused footage of her character to be used in the film.

Any sense of bad will was most definitely gone when Natalie Portman signed up for the upcoming Thor sequel, Love and Thunder, where she will be not only reprising her role as Jane Foster, but also transforming into the role of Thor. The reason for Portman's return? Her love of quirky Director Taika Waititi. We totally understand Natalie, we wouldn't be able to resist either!
