Poor Chris Hemsworth. Sure, he’s a millionaire with the physique of a living god, but it also feels like audiences the world over pathologically reject the idea of him playing a character who isn’t named Thor.

In 2015 he was in Blackhat and In The Heart Of The Sea, which were both pricey failures. It felt like 2016 was a make or break year for Chris as a leading man outside of Marvel, but it wasn’t to be. The Huntsman: Winter’s War scaled new heights when it came to pointless sequel no one asked for, and only grossed about half of the original.

Ghostbusters gave him a chance to flex his comedic muscles and even people who despised the movie had to admit he was the highlight. Since that also underperformed, expect him to stick with Thor for at least a few more years.
