10 Alternate Star Wars Movie Scenes We Almost Got To See

10. The Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader Force Ghost Mash-Up - The Force Awakens

Overall, few would argue with the fact that J.J. Abrams managed to successfully juggle what fans had originally fallen in love with when taking in the Original Trilogy and the introduction of an intriguing ensemble of new heroes and villains to dissect when bringing The Force Awakens into existence.

While the temptation was clearly there to perhaps rely a little too heavily on nostalgia, though it's not as though the film stayed clear of that tool altogether, Abrams seemed determined to keep the focus on this next batch of leads as much as possible.

This is also evidenced in the decision to scrap what could've admittedly been a crowd-pleasing and unexpected blast from the past in the early stages of production. As revealed in the Art of Star Wars: The Force Awakens book, the idea of an Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader force ghost mash-up, that would've transitioned back-and-forth between the well-known identities, was once in the pipe-line for the film.

There's no concrete evidence on how this Skywalker/Vader ghost would've been used in the film, but the art in the book seems to suggest the powerful Jedi/Sith would've presented himself to his son, Luke, at some point. Imagine that father-son catch-up.
