10. "You Didn't See THAT Coming" - Quicksilver

"You didn't see that coming."

Why It's Awesome

Throughout Avengers: Age of Ultron, Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) have a cute little rivalry, with each saying to the other once, "You didn't see that coming?" when getting one over on them.

But after Quicksilver changes sides to help take down Ultron (James Spader) later in the movie, he ends up making the ultimate sacrifice by taking a barrage of bullets from one of Ultron's drones in an attempt to protect Hawkeye.

Before dropping to the ground, though, he offers up a repeat utterance of the phrase, albeit with an entirely different tone, emphasis, and context.

Beyond Hawkeye's surprise at having his life saved by his former foe, it's also a bit of a meta moment from writer-director Joss Whedon to the audience.

Considering that viewers were aggressively led to believe that Hawkeye was going to die in the movie - what with being unexpectedly introduced to his family and all - having Quicksilver rush in and take the hit was certainly a rug-pull that few fans saw coming.
