10 Best Horror Movie Disguises Of All Time

3. The Purge Smile Mask - The Purge

The Purge takes place in a world where crime is legal in the United States one day per year. Why does the government legalise crime? To stop crime. (It makes sense if you watch the movie.)

On the Purge night, Purgers wreak havoc upon the cities, often attacking, robbing, and murdering anyone that stands in their way. Despite the fact crime is legal during this time, most Purgers wear masks, (although it's usually to intimidate their victims rather than to conceal their identity.) Throughout the franchise, there have been dozens of creative masks including the God Mask, the Statue of Liberty Mask, and the Kiss Me Mask.

However, the most recognisable one is the original, simply known as the Purge Smile mask. Even though it depicts a regular human face, all the facial features are slightly exaggerated, creating an Uncanny Valley effect, which leaves people feeling unnerved. This visage is all the more unsettling when the main villain, The Polite Leader, reveals his face to his victims, showing that his cartoonishly large grin is almost identical to the mask he wears.
