8. Fighting Patrice In Shanghai (Skyfall)

Not every great Bond scene needs to be full of character development. The series, after all, was built on thrilling action sequences. One such scene was Bond€™s hypnotic fight with the assassin Patrice in Shanghai.

The scene's success is really all the result of master cinematographer Roger Deakins at work. From the moment Bond begins to approach Patrice, we€™re hypnotized by the neon signs reflecting outside. The slow creep towards him and the lead up to the confrontation is what really sells the whole scene. After letting him shoot his target in the neighboring building, Bond strikes and we€™re treated to a gorgeous fight scene as their silhouettes dance on the open ledge of the high-rise building.

What€™s remarkable is that there€™s no shaky cam and little cutting. The scene isn€™t trying to resemble Bourne or Mission: Impossible and instead presents us the kind of stylish action that Bond is known for.

There€™s no added significance to the scene in what it means for Bond other than to move the plot forward, but it looks so amazing that it€™s enough for it to be memorable.
