10 Best Superhero Movie Moments Of The Last Decade
4. <span Style="font-size: 17.55px;">Wonder Woman - </span>Crossing No Man's Land
A moment the studio didn't want. A moment that could have ruined the whole film. It instead, solidifies Wonder Woman as the queen of all superheroes and forever changed the genre.
Wonderwoman was as close to perfect as a debut superhero film could get, and if it hadn't have been for the overuse of visual effects in the films climactic battle, then it would probably have been. But that still doesn't detract from just how brilliant the film is, a solid, balanced, and empowering film about one woman trying to end the war to end all wars and protect humanity from itself.
It seems implausible, that the studio wanted to cut the scene which is both the film and Wonder Woman's crowning moment on the big screen. Angry at the needless death and destruction she sees around her and the loss of innocent lives, as well as undeterred by the dismissal of her fellow adventurers that there is nothing they can do to help, she takes to No Man's Land and shows EXACTLY what she can do.
The brilliance of this scene is that Wonder Woman doesn't simply just charge across No Man's Land and do everything by herself. She takes the lead, and shows her male allies the way forward, inspiring them to push on and turn the tide of battle in their favour. It is this simple, yet understated and elegantly constructed moment that anchors Wonder Woman's entire film.
Defusing any argument that detractors ever thought there would be about gender in the film's narrative, solidifying Wonder Woman as her own superhero and not having to make her more like her male counterparts for the sake of conformity, this scene is amazing and so it goes in at number four on our list.
