10 Biggest Star Trek Moments Of 2021

3. Q's Return Announcement

John de Lancie is returning as Q for Star Trek: Picard's second season, and to say that this was a pleasant shock throughout the fanbase hardly gives it the credit it's due. From that first teaser trailer, depicting that slowly disintegrating Queen playing card, until only the Q at the top remained, to the second trailer that gave the audience de Lancie in the flesh again - this marketing campaign is nailing it.

Of course, the second season of Picard will be dropping in early 2022, yet the appetites of those Trekkies who are dying to hear that finger click has been whetted between that second and third trailer, as a visibly older Q, goatee and all, seems to be setting a new set of tasks for his favourite Starfleet officer.

Q has also had brief dealings with Seven of Nine as well, though they have yet to be shown interacting in any of the marketing for Picard. It seems as though, from what has been shown already, Q and Picard will very much be the double team that All Good Things promised. Throw in the promise of Whoopi Goldberg returning as Guinan, and the audience may well be seeing a pay-off to the long-standing feud, one that stretches all the way back to Q, Who?
