10 Bruce Willis Movies That Were Basically Die Hard Sequels

8. Hostage

Hostage is one of the more underrated outings from Willis' back catalogue, a sizzling, vibrant, visually stunning thriller that's intense and finds Willis on fine form as Jeff Talley, a former SWAT team member turned hostage negotiator, who is haunted by a previous incident in which his poor judgement caused a criminal to commit murder suicide against his own family. Talley is pulled back into the fold for a pressing heist situation, and as you can guess, it ends up with his own family being dragged into the mess, as he goes into full-on John McClane mode. As reluctant saviours go, there aren't many better or more unlucky than John McClane, and though Hostage arguably delves a little too deep into the psychological scarring for Die Hard's lighter tone, the stunning action and cracking visuals make this a thoroughly enjoyable outing in the series' vein.
