10 Most Controversial Comic Book Movie Moments

3. Superman Kills

Man of Steel took a new, darker approach to the character, seemingly in an attempt to replicate the real world vision of Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy. Henry Cavill embodied the character well enough, especially in this cinematic version, but a number of scenes had fans wondering if this was really the right direction for the next wave of Superman films to start off with. While Zack Snyder's Man of Steel took a few liberties with Superman's character, it was the finale that really sparked some controversy and set fans on edge. After a city-destroying fight between Zod and Superman, the two find themselves locked in a final grapple, with Zod threatening innocent lives. Superman was 'forced' to snap Zod's neck, killing him and saving the few left alive in the rubble of Metropolis. This act was considered by many Superman fans to be completely out of character for Big Blue, and went against everything the character stood for.
