10 Disastrous Movies That Actors And Directors Still Haven't Recovered From

4. Topher Grace - Spider-Man 3

Topher Grace looked to be on the path to becoming a regular fixture on our screens, having made great strides in following in the footsteps of the many actors before him that had successfully made the jump from starring in TV sitcoms to becoming Hollywood leading men.

He'd done the TV bit, lent support in awards-favorite drama Traffic, appeared in crowd-pleasing hit Mona Lisa Smile, led a romantic comedy to solid reviews and decent box office with In Good Company, and it looked as though the final piece in the puzzle would fit into place when he tackled fan favorite character Venom in mega-budget comic book blockbuster Spider-Man 3.

Unfortunately, Raimi very much treated Venom like someone he was forced to put into the movie at the studio's request, and Grace's painfully weak performance didn't do him any favors either. That seemed to firmly put the brakes on his ascent up the industry's totem pole that prevented him from going any higher, although his recent turn in the acclaimed BlackKklansman is definitely a step in the right direction.
